What is your view on Violent video games. Personally I believe that soem people are just looking for something to point a finger at get it banned and try to convince themselves that they did a good thing. But what they refuse to realize is that video games are just the trigger not the gun, I do believe that they can be that little nudge some need to avoid but even without them something else would be there to piss them off and replace video games as the trigger. There is no way to stop it the oly thing that would happenis that the gamers who like games like that and are sane which most are would be screwed and it will have done absolutley no good for their cause.

Violence was always part of human history from as far as anyone knows. Video games only appeared less than 60 years ago. And we are a lot less violent than before.
I doubt the Roman would have built the coliseum if they had some video games to pass their time.

I think the key is parents. While I don't agree with the violence in the games, it's subjective. If you have the knowledge of what is right and wrong and can separate reality from fiction, than it is okay. But parents who let their very young children play these games before they have a basic understanding of those principals is damaging.
well on one had I can say that I think that any violence on tv or video games or whatever just further desensitizes the public the more they are exposed to it but on the other hand I have to wonder why people don't understand that they have a choice as to whether or not they allow themselves that exposure. I mean if a violent show comes on tv all you gotta do is change the channel, no one is forcing anyone to watch it, same goes for video games, if you don't like it, don't buy it. If parents are concerned their children will be exposed to it then I guess these parents need to learn to pay close attention to their children and educate them on violence.
As for people who choose to expose themselves to it, well, all we can do is accept that they have the choice. We are all in control of ourselves and our own behaviour, to blame a game or show for how we act is completely delusional.
They cant possibly serve any good purpose. The milder games teach hand eye coordination if nothing else.
You're acting like videogames turn people into psychopaths - and in some instances this does happen.
The problem is that the affects people's actions towards others in ways that could be seen as 'over-competitive' - i've seen people treat others like they would a virtual advesary essentially.
This level of influence can be picked up in some people if you consider the reasons why they choose to act in one way or the other.
P.S: This isn't something you can escape from simply by not playing videogames btw - once it's had it's effect you have to deal with it mentally.
The only bad thing about computer games is that they make everything seem competitive.
Violent gaming can help relieve stress in adults.
