A video I recieved in an email attachment only plays audio?

Someone help me out, a friend sent me a video they made to me thru email, and it was an attachment. Its an %26lt;B%26gt;.avi%26lt;/B%26gt; file and when I play it in windows media player, it only plays the audio. How do I get the video to show up?

I was told I need to download the 'video codec' from the windows media player website and I should have to install the DIVX or XVID codec to see if it will resolve my problem. Anyone have links to what I'm looking for or further explaination of what those kind of codec's do?

get both of these and it will play it, if it still doesn't play properly then get avi movie player from:

http://www.download.com/AVI-Movie-Player...

and play the movie in it instead of windows media player

also updating your windows is a good thing cuz it will update all the necessary updates that your computer needs
